Sponsors Elevate Our Climbing Festival

The YKCC couldn’t host our annual festival without generous support from our prize sponsors. Air North is once again providing our raffle prize – two round trip tickets to either Whitehorse or Ottawa.

All climbing competition entrants get one automatic raffle entry. Competitors and guests at the festival can purchase additional raffle entries for $10 each. So if you’re stopping by the festival for free climbing lessons and a burger, you can still enter for a chance to win big!

Other prize sponsors for the event include:

  • Overlander Sports
  • The Black Knight Pub
  • The Monkey Tree/Diamante
  • Coyote’s Bistro on Franklin
  • Barren Ground Coffee

Give these business owners a hug if you know them folks. They’re making their community a better place.

PS. Only one more week until we strip the gym to make room for the new festival routes. If you haven’t finished a route yet, get yourself over to the gym!

2017 Climbing Festival – May 6th

2017 Climbing Festival Poster-01It’s that time of year again! Dust off your climbing shoes and get ready for the YKCC’s climbing festival. The festival will be held on May 6th at the YKCC gym and will include our annual competition, free climbing lessons for beginners, a BBQ, and prize giveaways.

We’ll have 30 new routes set by our mystery route setter. That means our current routes won’t be up for long. Climb them while you can!

This is a family-friendly event. Bring the kids, bring your parents – no experience required!

Our competitions are open to all skill levels, even absolute beginners. You can learn about the process here: YKCC Competition Format

Thanks for all the help!

To all the Yellowknife Climbing Club members who have supported our efforts to get a new climbing wall – especially everyone who showed their support by coming to city hall and donning club attire on Dec. 8 – thanks!

Council decided to support the club’s bid for a new climbing wall and is contributing $160,000 to the cause.

The project is estimated to cost $232,050 to build, and the YKCC has approximately $20,000 to donate immediately. The next step will be to raise the remaining $52,000 needed for the project.
