2018 Outdoor Summer Climbing Courses (July 14-15)

We’re holding two new outdoor climbing courses: beginner top rope course and an intro to sport climbing course.

The top rope course will learn some top rope training, a bit about anchors, and belaying. There are 6 spots available for this course.

The into to sport climbing will learn how to run lead climbing including anchors and sport leading. There are 6 spots available for this course.

Both courses will run at $225 for members and $250 for non-members. The price includes a complimentary t-shirt! You can pay with cash and register at Barren Ground Coffee in Old Town on Thursdays 4-6 or Sundays 11-3. First come first serve so sign up fast!

Both groups will be meeting at Big Crack, more details are available here:

The Kam Lake Bouldering Gym Is Permanently Closed

Hello Climbers of Yellowknife,

The YKCC’s bouldering gym in Kam Lake is permanently closed. We’ve donated our collection of climbing holds to the City of Yellowknife so they can be used for the new wall in the Fieldhouse.

There will unfortunately be no indoor climbing in Yellowknife until the City’s wall opens. We anticipate this will be in early March.

Climbers head underground for winter

This is a friendly reminder that our annual competition is tomorrow. You can register at the door.
The first 60 registrants get our competition t-shirt designed by artist Andrew Hall.
All competitors will get free BBQ! All registrants, regardless of competing, will be entered into a draw for Air North tickets. There will be prizes for the climbers!
Sign up even if you can’t climb! You support the YKCC, you get an awesome t-shirt, you can eat some bbq, and you have a 1 in ~60 chance of winning two Air North tickets. The real question is: WHY WOULDN’T YOU?
See you tomorrow?
Eric Binion, President
